“四时天气促相催，一夜薰风带暑来”。每年公历5月5日至7日，当北斗七星的斗柄指向东南方，便是立夏的时刻。立夏标志着春天的结束，夏天的开始，因此也被称为“春尽日”。

“Four seasons urge each other on; overnight, the warm breeze brings the heat.“ Every year, around May 5th to 7th, when the handle of the Big Dipper points to the southeast, it marks the arrival of the Beginning of Summer. This solar term signifies the end of spring and the beginning of summer, and is also known as the “End of Spring.“

在中国，立夏有着丰富的习俗，在这一天，人们有“称人”的习俗，人们称量体重，寓意夏日安康；煮上鲜嫩的立夏蛋，互相碰撞，祈愿生活圆满；还要“尝三新”——此时樱桃红透，青梅煮酒，新麦飘香，将“三新”一口咬下，满是初夏的鲜甜。

In China, the Beginning of Summer is rich with traditional customs. On this day, people practice the custom of “weighing people,” where individuals are weighed to symbolize health and well-being during the summer. They also boil tender “Beginning of Summer eggs,” which are then tapped together, wishing for a fulfilling life. Additionally, people “taste the three new things”—at this time, cherries turn bright red, plums are brewed in wine, and fresh wheat fills the air with its fragrance. Biting into these “three new things” is like savoring the sweetness of early summer.
